Madikwe River Lodge Reviews
“Out along the banks of the Madikwe river lies this awesome place. The attention one gets from the hosts exceeds expectations. The rooms are well laid out and very comfortable to give one the rest promised by the surroundings. The staff always ready to cater to the flimsiest of requests. The game drive an event to be spoken of for time to come. Benson the game ranger, a knowledgeable individual who gave us a bush lesson in a space of 5 hours. He made every effort to get us the best views of the wild still giving them their space and respect. Madikwe river lodge definitely exceeded on their promise of a memorable holiday.” –708rm
“Have just returned from a 6 night stay and cannot understand all the negative reviews of this lodge. This was the 5th time we have been on safari and the best value for money we have ever had. All I can say on the comments regarding the food portions is that some people must have far bigger appetites than mine. We were fed 7 times a day and invariably could not manage lunch as we were still full from breakfast. All staff very attentive and entertained us with local songs on 3 of the 6 nights we were there. Benson our game drive guide is by far the best we have ever had and was the one that the guides from all the other lodges took their lead from. If there was something to be tracked, Benson was always the first to find it. He was great company with a good sense of humour. This was the first lodge to be built in Madikwe, so is a bit older than most and is currently being refurbished and upgraded to include a gym and spa, not sure when they will be opened. We occupied 3 rooms all with verandas overlooking the river. Rooms were more than adequate.” –mandsTickhill
“Located right on a river, the wildlife you can spot from your room. The guides that took us out on the game drives were so knowledgeable and the staff at the lodge couldn’t help enough. The lodge has an African feel that fits well with the surroundings. It is a malaria free area too which was a bonus.” –TravelWriterKate
