Mateya Safari Lodge Reviews
“I stayed at this loge in May of 2015. The service and staff were AMAZING. Everyone was so nice and friendly answering questions and escorting our game runs. The room (each room in it’s on building) was lovely with fine linens and textiles. We had our own pool and deck over-looking the reserve. It was fun to stand on your deck and see a Rhino walk by. The bath-room had a huge tub great for a soak and indoor/outdoor shower. The food was excellent as well. I can’t say enough good things about this lodge and it’s staff. Thanks !!! One feature works for a few couple or a large family – This lodge only has 5 suites so it would be great for grand-parents to take the kid and grand-kids and have the place to yourselves” –athomeinpositano
“We travelled in Madikwe Game Reserve btw Dec 24 and 31 and stayed in 4 different lodges including Mateya. All were very different but Mateya was the best if you are looking for privacy, pampering and relaxation in a luxury lodge. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. Guests have unlimited access to the owner’s vintage wine cellar. The dedicated ranger and tracker will also make your game drives very special. We Loved it and will return shortly.” –nicolas1222
“We were reborn at Mateya. My husband and I celebrated six years of life following my heart transplant with a trip to the beautiful, quiet Madikwe Game Reserve and are so glad that we chose to stay at Mateya Lodge. It is beyond luxurious: it is tasteful, warm, relaxed, and sincere. The food is fabulous, and the chefs kindly cooked all fruits and vegetables for me, since my immunosuppression makes me vulnerable to bacterial infection. Bethuel presided over our every dining need as if we were in his home. Every day out in the bush with our guide Francois and tracker Divine was an adventure in learning about animals, plants, and South African history. Francois’ curiosity, keen mind, and understanding of his sacred contract with the bush was truly inspiring. We cannot say enough about the welcome and care that Joanne brings to her reception job, and head guide and lodge manager Phillip was always a warm and jovial host. Go to Mateya if you are in need of quiet and want to listen to people of uncommon grace and to the sounds of the bush. My only hesitation in writing a review of such love is that this special place could be spoiled by too much popularity. ” –waumbekket
